How an expert witness uses CDIA: competing accounts and defensible statements

An expert’s report will be tested sentence by sentence, usually by someone who has read the bundle more recently than the expert has. CDIA is built around that moment.

“What do the records say about who was responsible for the delay to the facade?” The Investigation Review shows the evidence before any answer exists, listed by kind: contemporaneous records, report extracts, contract clauses. Untick anything outside your instructions. On Continue, the answer sets out what the records show, what each party asserted, and what the contract provides, with the three kept visibly distinct. Where the parties’ positions conflict, CDIA states each account and names the conflict. It does not adjudicate, and it does not adopt a report’s version as fact.

“What do the records and the two expert reports say about the October 2024 weather?” On the example project the answer cites the rainfall, the gusts and the lost roofing days, and attributes the two experts’ opposing opinions on whether the weather was exceptionally adverse to their authors. Name a report and CDIA reads it in depth, citing the report and, where it holds them, the page, so you have the opinion and the evidence side by side.

“What happened with the design change to the atrium?” An account with dates and citations where the records give them, with no invented causation. The scope note beneath it states how many of the selected items were considered and whether anything was omitted for capacity. That scope note is what lets you say what your answer rests on.

Draft is where the value lands. “Draft the factual background on the facade from the selected evidence.” The draft cites the reviewed evidence, and CDIA checks the citation references before showing it. Export to Word with the AI provenance line, and review from there.

On confidentiality: your documents are stored and prepared on your computer. Private AI runs the AI on your machine. Cloud AI sends prepared evidence for your question to your provider under your own key, during preparation and reading as well as at answer time, and never your original files or your whole project. You choose, and you can switch at any time.

CDIA does not give opinions on liability, quantum or entitlement. It gets the evidence in front of you, cited, so that the opinion is yours and the source is one click away.
